Our Master Tea Maker, Kenta Ikeda

At Ikeda Tea World, we are extremely proud of our certified organic matcha. Our head of manufacturing and Tea Master, Kenta Ikeda, puts his love and expertise into every batch of bulk tea we make. Whether it’s our culinary, ceremonial, or industrial-grade teas, Kenta Ikeda ensures that every batch is of the highest quality. Having quite literally been born into his family’s tea shop (and generations of matcha Tea Masters!), it’s not surprising that Mr. Ikeda has developed a lifelong passion for tea making.

What Makes A Tea Master?

In 2014, Kenta Ikeda became certified as a 10th-grade Chashi Master Tea Maker. A level of expertise so rare that only 13 other people around the world have been given this honor in the 65 years of the certificate’s existence. This certification is so significant because when it comes to tea, the taste and quality molded entirely by the maker is what makes each batch unique.

A matcha Master Tea Maker must have the ability to procure leaves from many sources and accurately characterize the properties of each group of leaves to determine their best use.

Ikeda Tea World is the only bulk matcha supplier in the world that has a tea sommelier like Mr. Ikeda on their team, allowing us to efficiently produce the best flavors in each grade of matcha we sell.
